Until recently, I didn’t know that people put Detroits in 5010/20′s. In north central Illinois, a farmer got the patent for the mating plate to marry a 903 Cummins to a 5020. He converted over 30 in his spare time, even new one’s which voided the warranty. He sold the patent to Cummins after JD engineers started checking him out. Cummins made them for awhile. Then Deere came out with 6030 Turbo.

Sounds more like a 71 than a 53. Deeper note and less revs. This one sounds no faster than 1500 revs if that. Besides, I doubt a regular 8v53 would put out 318hp without some substantial tweaking.
